Summer Visitors 2023

This summer I had a one week visit from my sister Sara, followed by a two week visit from two of my grandchildren Amy (14) and Nicola (7). This meant that I had to clean the pool and get it working after its long winter hibernation. When I first removed the cover it looked like a duck pond and actually had a frog in residence. I also discovered that the pipework had sprung a leak and wasn’t sure I would be able to get it working – breaking through concrete and digging down a metre to get to the offending pipes wasn’t a short term option. I managed to come up with a work around by isolating the offending section of pipe and get the pool (mostly) ready in time. Fortunately Sara didn’t mind pitching in to help with the final clean up.

Sara is almost as much of an exercise nut as me so we were out for plenty of morning runs and bike rides – which all had to be done in the morning as the afternoons were just too hot. We would frequently head out for breakfast at a local cafe – which is my usual morning habit.

The girls flew in to Limoges (Ryanair from Manchester) and I went to collect them in the van – they were very tired having left home at 3 in the morning. They made great use of the pool, but also enjoyed going out to the cafe in the morning where we compared notes on the relative merits of chocolatines from different bakeries.

The pictures and captions tell a bit more of the story, but I think my visitors all enjoyed their stay…
